The all inclusive nature of Islam Expo SA 2009 was displayed for Christians, Jews, Hindus and people from other religions that were among the 55,000 crowds that converged at Cape Town International Convention Centre from 11-14 June who experienced ‘From Slavery to Citizenship’ .
IE-SA enjoyed coverage on The Voice of the Cape, Cape Talk, Goodhope FM, Heart 104.9fm, Kfm, Radio 702, Radio 786, Channel Islam International, Radio Islam, X CON Films [SABC 2 & CTV], SA History on Line, Egypt on Line, Die Burger, The Cape Times, The Cape Argus, Weekend Argus as well as Netherlands Radio.

The broad objectives of the Islam Expo SA 2009 were to:
promote a spirit of religious and cultural tolerance;
showcase Islamic Calligraphy and Islamic Art;
create an understanding about the culture and traditions of Muslims;
create an awareness of the role played by Muslims in the history of South Africa;
showcase UK Exhibition Islam: The Science and Heritage Collections
focus on Muslim-based financial, arts & cultural, social welfare, economic, historical, educational organisations and institutions
